Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and pop superstar Katy Perry were spotted having dinner together in Montreal this week, sending social media into a frenzy over possible romance rumors.

The two spent about two hours at Le Violon, a popular fine-dining restaurant in the city, on Monday evening. TMZ first broke the story, publishing photos and video of Trudeau and Perry in animated conversation over a multi-course meal.

Samantha Jin, a communications consultant for the restaurant, confirmed the sighting, saying the pair kept to themselves. “We kind of got the vibe that they were a little more chill,” she told reporters, adding that there were “no visual signs of PDA or anything.”

Security reportedly kept a low profile nearby as the duo enjoyed a chef’s tasting menu, which included tuna, beef tartare, lobster, asparagus, and lamb as the main course. Chef Danny Smiles stopped by their table, and before leaving, the two went into the kitchen to personally thank the staff.

Both camps have remained quiet — neither Trudeau’s nor Perry’s representatives immediately responded to requests for comment.

Perry, who recently split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom, is currently on tour in Canada, with stops in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto. Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire separated in 2023.

Trudeau, who announced his resignation earlier this year after nearly a decade as Canada’s prime minister, is no stranger to high-profile relationships — his father, Pierre Trudeau, famously dated Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall before marrying while in office.

As for Perry, the 13-time Grammy nominee and global pop icon is best known for her 2010 mega-hit album Teenage Dream, which tied Michael Jackson’s record for producing five No. 1 singles from a single album.

So far, there’s no confirmation this Montreal meetup was anything more than dinner between friends — but fans aren’t done speculating just yet.
