Tommy Robinson — one of Britain’s most notorious far-right figures — has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was left seriously injured at London’s St Pancras station last month.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was picked up by British Transport Police at Luton Airport on Monday evening, shortly after arriving from Portugal.

Authorities say he fled the UK to Tenerife just hours after the alleged assault on July 29.

Police confirmed the man had been “wanted for questioning” and is now in custody facing allegations of grievous bodily harm. The victim was hospitalised with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

Though officials didn’t name Robinson in their statement, video of the incident, widely circulated online, clearly shows the former English Defence League founder at the scene. In the footage, Robinson is seen standing over the motionless man and claiming he acted in self-defence.

This latest arrest comes just months after Robinson was released early from prison, where he was serving time for contempt of court after defaming Syrian schoolboy Jamal Hijazi. The High Court had ordered him to pay £100,000 in damages in a libel case Robinson lost back in 2021.

Despite his long rap sheet — which includes multiple convictions for public order offences, contempt of court, and harassment — Robinson continues to rally support from far-right circles in the UK and abroad. Earlier this year, Elon Musk controversially tweeted in support of Robinson while he was still behind bars.

The advocacy group Hope Not Hate has described Robinson as “the UK’s most notorious far-right extremist.” He built his public profile by leading anti-Muslim marches, spreading disinformation about refugees, and stoking anti-immigrant sentiment.

As of now, Robinson remains in custody and is expected to face further questioning. If charged, he could be headed back to prison — just months after his early release.
