Wyoming’s no stranger to bragging rights — and 2025 is no different.

The Equality State has once again landed near the top of the charts in WalletHub’s annual “Best States to Live” survey, snagging the No. 11 spot out of all 50 states plus Washington, DC.

One of the biggest reasons? Safety. Wyoming ranked second in the nation for keeping its residents secure, just behind New Jersey. It also scored well for affordability, coming in at 13th most affordable in the US — a big plus for anyone eyeing a move or trying to stretch their paycheck.

Of course, there’s still room to grow. The state’s quality of life ranking came in at 38th, and education and health landed at 30th. But between its wide-open spaces, low crime, and relatively low cost of living, Wyoming continues to hold its own on the national stage.

Massachusetts took the top spot overall this year, while Idaho and New Jersey rounded out the top three. You can check out WalletHub’s full 2025 rankings and see how every state stacked up here.
