Wyoming drivers can expect some fresh pavement, new bridges, and a few orange cones in the years ahead. The Wyoming Transportation Commission just signed off on $22.7 million worth of highway contracts covering seven different projects across the state.
The biggest slice of the pie — nearly $8.9 million — went to Idaho-based H-K Contractors Inc. to tackle about 34 miles of US Highway 30 in Lincoln County. That project includes everything from asphalt paving to fencing and chip seal, and it’s set to wrap up by October 2026.
Closer to home, Worland’s McGavin-Moberly Construction Co. landed a $3.05 million contract for improvements on about 12 miles of US 26/287 in Fremont County, scheduled to finish in mid-2027.
Other highlights:
- Concrete Works of Colorado will take on a $2.08 million job to reconstruct intersections and replace slabs on busy stretches of Highway 59 and US 14/16 in Gillette. That one’s due July 2026.
- W. Clyde & Co. out of Utah snagged a $1.4 million contract to replace a bridge over Third Sand Creek in Carbon County.
- Montana’s TCA Group Inc. will handle another bridge replacement in Carbon County, this one over Four Mile Creek, for about $854,000.
- King Enterprises of Mills will spend $1.18 million on right-of-way and fencing work along US 189/191 in Sublette County.
- And in Park County, Lovell’s Mountain Construction Co. got a $5.83 million state-funded contract to repave and improve drainage on 10 miles of US 14/16/20 between Yellowstone and Cody.
Most of the projects are bankrolled by federal funds, but WYDOT notes nearly all contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder.
