Trail lovers, take note: Wyoming is now accepting applications for its 2026 Non-Motorized Recreational Trails Program (RTP), which dishes out competitive grants to improve hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other people-powered paths across the state.

Roughly $567,500 is on the table this cycle to help fund everything from new trail construction to fixing up trailheads. And for the first time, winter trail grooming projects can get reimbursed based on mileage and hours worked.

Only land-managing agencies — or groups with land-use agreements — are eligible to apply. Pre-applications are due Sept. 1, with the final deadline set for Oct. 1.

The grants come through the Wyoming State Trails Program, funded by the Federal Off-Highway Vehicle Gas Tax, which helps keep public recreation accessible across the state.

More info and application materials are available online, and questions can go to Grants Specialist Naomi Lopez at 307-631-6304 or [email protected].
