If you or someone you know could use a hand, the Department of Wyoming VFW Auxiliary is staging “Operation Stand Down” on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Depot Plaza, right at Capitol Avenue and West 15th Street in downtown Cheyenne.

The event is designed to meet people where they are—homeless neighbors and families, veterans and their loved ones, and anyone facing a tough stretch.

Come early for donuts and coffee; lunch will be provided by the Salvation Army. Throughout the day, attendees can tap into practical, no-cost help: fresh haircuts, basic dental care products, warm clothing, and even on-site mobile bike repair. Volunteers will also be on hand to connect folks with information and resources for navigating housing, benefits, and other essential services.

You’ll see familiar names pitching in, including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, the Veterans Administration, and members of the VFW Auxiliary. No appointment, ID, or proof of need is required—just stop by Depot Plaza between 9 and 1 and let the community rally around you.
