Help Pick WMC’s Next “Wild Ride”: Kids’ Ambulance Art Contest Is Back
A Banner Health Wyoming Medical Ambulance is seen recently during an event in Casper (WMC via Facebook)

Got a little artist at home who loves Wyoming wildlife? Banner Wyoming Medical Center just kicked off its 5th annual ambulance coloring contest, and every Natrona County elementary schooler is invited to help choose the creature that will star on brand-new ambulances rolling out later this fall, Oil City News reports.

From now through Sept. 28, 2025, students can grab an entry form and an outline of the ambulance, then submit their idea for a Wyoming-native animal to feature. WMC’s rigs are kind of local celebrities at this point—past contests have put a rainbow trout, black-footed ferret, wild horses, and a fox on the road. The fleet already also includes a bear, elk, bison, mountain lion, and bighorn sheep.

How it works

  • Pick an animal: It must be native to Wyoming and not one of the animals already on the ambulances (bear, elk, bison, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, rainbow trout, black-footed ferret, wild horses, fox).
  • Download the packet: Get the entry form and ambulance drawing (or email [email protected] to request a copy).
  • Create & submit: Include the illustration and a short essay. Entries are due by Sept. 28.
  • Finalists & vote: A committee will choose 10 finalists; then the community will vote on WMC’s Facebook page to pick the winner.

The winning concept will be turned into a full-size wrap using a licensed photograph of the chosen animal, with the student’s drawing and essay worked into the design. There’s also a special unveiling event where the winner gets bragging rights (and, let’s be honest, the coolest show-and-tell ever).

For the full rulebook and how to submit, check WMC’s contest materials or email [email protected] Pens, crayons, markers—go wild (Wyoming-wild).
