Wyoming volleyball didn’t mess around Saturday. The Cowgirls rolled past Air Force in straight sets — 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 — to open Mountain West play 2-0 and extend their win streak to three.
Both sides finished with 37 kills and 42 digs, but the match flipped at the net. Wyoming (6-7, 2-0 MW) piled up a season-best 17 team blocks to Air Force’s four and hit .304 while holding the Falcons (9-5, 1-1) to .088.
Sarah Holcomb led a balanced attack: 9 kills on 15 swings and a monstrous 10 blocks — nearly a double-double of the rarest kind. For the week, she averaged 2.13 blocks per set. Addy Cook chipped in six kills at .357, while Paige Lauterwasser and Jordan Sandy added five apiece; Sandy hit .417 with five blocks. Lauterwasser paced the floor with nine digs.
Setting duties were evenly split — Sara Quigley and Maddy Stucky handed out 16 assists each and added seven and six digs. From the line, Skylar Erickson, Lauterwasser and Sandy each notched an ace.
Next up: Wyoming hits the road for its first conference trip, visiting new Mountain West member Grand Canyon on Thursday at 7 p.m.
