Faced with endless bar menus, Wyoming drinkers keep it classic.
An analysis of Google searches by The Ice Maker Hub, covering August 2024 through July 2025, shows the Old Fashioned was the state’s most-craved cocktail over the last year, with the Margarita and the Mojito rounding out the top three. It’s a regional mood, too: South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, Idaho and Colorado also leaned hardest toward the Old Fashioned, while Utah zigged for the Margarita.
Nationally, the Old Fashioned led the pack with an average of about 414,773 monthly searches. The Margarita followed at roughly 362,707, then the Espresso Martini at 301,119. Next came the Mojito at 205,365, the Moscow Mule at 162,935, the Manhattan at 153,624, and the Piña Colada at 152,575. Rounding out the top ten were the Martini at 132,212, the White Russian at 124,407, and the Negroni at 120,083.
There’s a reason the Old Fashioned keeps winning. Dating to the early 1800s, it’s as simple as it is timeless: bourbon or rye whiskey stirred with a touch of sugar and a few dashes of Angostura bitters, brightened with a twist of citrus, often an orange peel. No foam, no fuss — just a smooth, sturdy drink that’s aged about as well as American bar culture itself. So if you’re ordering in Wyoming this fall, odds are you’ll hear plenty of Old Fashioneds sliding across the bar.
