Make-A-Wish Wyoming has tapped Greta Maxfield as its new CEO, bringing a seasoned child- and family-advocate to lead the statewide nonprofit, Oil City News reports.

Maxfield, a licensed clinical social worker who joined the organization in September, steps in with deep Wyoming roots and a résumé built around serving kids and their caregivers.

A University of Wyoming alum with a bachelor’s degree from UW and a master’s from Washington University in St. Louis — where she focused on nonprofit leadership — Maxfield has led programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming and Central Wyoming Hospice. She also keeps one foot in the classroom as an adjunct instructor at UW-Casper.

“I absolutely love this state and feel incredibly fortunate to be working for a nonprofit that serves Wyoming with such a powerful and inspiring mission,” she said, adding that Make-A-Wish “doesn’t just grant wishes — it creates moments of joy, resilience, and transformation for children facing critical illnesses.”

Board president Dr. Troy Thompson called the hire a strong fit, saying Maxfield brings the experience and expertise to steer the organization toward “a very bright future.” She succeeds Morgan Poloncic, who departed in April 2025 after 11 years of service.
