KelTec, the largest firearms manufacturer in Florida, is expanding beyond the Space Coast and into the Rockies. The company has launched KelTec West, a new production facility in Rock Springs, Wyoming, as it grows its manufacturing footprint and ramps up next-gen R&D.

Announced on July 20, 2022, the move adds a 33,000-square-foot plant in Rock Springs to KelTec’s existing 125,000-square-foot base in Cocoa, Florida (just up the road from Cape Canaveral). The Wyoming site will start small but is built to scale to 250+ employees across machining, engineering and other industrial roles.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this new adventure,” said Adrian Kellgren, KelTec’s director of industrial production. “Wyoming’s frontier history fits our brand — we’re always pushing the limits of performance and design.”

Governor Mark Gordon welcomed the company, citing the state’s open spaces, hunting culture, strong defense of Second Amendment rights and business-friendly climate.

Known for unconventional designs and lightweight builds, KelTec says the Rock Springs operation will lean into cutting-edge manufacturing, next-gen research and development, and the production of new, trend-setting firearms. The company’s rationale and recent product initiatives are highlighted in an American Rifleman Television feature segment.

KelTec’s western outpost gives the brand more capacity and flexibility — while Wyoming adds another advanced manufacturing employer to its growing roster.
