Inter Miami cruised to a 4–1 win over the New England Revolution in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night, with Jordi Alba and Tadeo Allende each scoring twice to lift the hosts back into winning form.

The victory snapped Miami’s two-match winless streak and moved the team into third place in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference with 59 points (17–7–8). With two games remaining, Miami now sits three points behind FC Cincinnati for second place.

New England (9–16–8, 35 points) have now lost five of their past six matches.

Messi pulls the strings

Although Lionel Messi went scoreless for a second straight match, he assisted on three of Miami’s four goals, driving the attack throughout a rain-soaked evening.

Messi’s first assist came in the 32nd minute, threading a perfect through ball to Allende, who finished past New England goalkeeper Matt Turner. Just before halftime, Messi intercepted a clearance near the visitors’ box and set up Alba to double the lead.

Revolution rally falls short

New England briefly narrowed the gap in the 59th minute when Dor Turgeman struck from distance after a setup by Carles Gil, beating Miami’s backup goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo, who started ahead of Oscar Ustari following a five-goal outing in Chicago midweek.

Miami responded instantly, less than a minute later, as Allende converted another Messi assist to restore the two-goal cushion. Alba sealed the win three minutes later from a Telasco Segovia pass, completing his brace.

With the playoffs approaching, Miami’s dominant display, even without a Messi goal, reaffirmed its attacking depth and title ambitions.
