Cheyenne just landed a big one. Related Digital has started building a $1.2 billion data center campus on 115 acres along Cheyenne Business Parkway, a site that’s set to host CoreWeave’s AI infrastructure.

The project could ultimately deliver up to 302 megawatts of capacity; CoreWeave has already locked in a long-term lease for 88MW as the anchor tenant.

At Tuesday’s groundbreaking, Related Companies CEO Jeff T. Blau called the data-center boom a new economic engine for states like Wyoming, promising tax benefits, hundreds of construction jobs, and a lift for local businesses. Governor Mark Gordon praised the design’s air-cooled approach, which the company says uses only nominal water — welcome news in a dry state. CoreWeave COO Sachin Jain framed the Cheyenne site as part of the company’s push to expand its “essential AI cloud” while investing in the community and sustainability.

Phase one is moving fast. The first building — 184,000 square feet — is slated to be finished by the end of 2026. Over its first 15 years, the development is expected to generate more than $250 million in tax revenue for Wyoming and Cheyenne, support roughly 700 construction jobs, and create about 40 permanent positions on site.

Related Digital, launched this year by real-estate giant Related Companies, says it has a 5GW pipeline across the US and Canada, with other builds underway in Ontario and Illinois. Wyoming’s data center scene is still relatively small, but it’s getting crowded: Microsoft and Meta are already in the state, with Prometheus Hyperscale and Crusoe building out new campuses and several crypto-mining outfits operating nearby. Cheyenne’s newest campus puts the Cowboy State even deeper into the AI race — and it’s only just getting started.
