Nevada State Police say 67-year-old James Lindsey Jackson of Evanston, Wyoming, has died after an e-bike crash in Mesquite on Monday, Oct. 6. Jackson was airlifted to St. George Regional Hospital in critical condition and later died, according to an Oct. 15 public release.

Mesquite Police and Nevada Highway Patrol responded around 7:39 a.m. NHP’s preliminary report says a white 2006 Ford Fusion was heading south through the Oasis Boulevard roundabout at Ivy Lee Crest in the No. 1 lane when Jackson — riding an Eco Motion Core Pro e-Fat e-bike in the No. 2 lane — moved into the No. 1 lane and struck the car’s right side. He was ejected. The roundabout was closed for roughly seven hours for investigation and reconstruction.

“Scooter and e-bike accidents are becoming an ER epidemic,” MPD Capt. Quinn Averett said.

Since January 2025, Las Vegas Metro has recorded 10 e-bike fatalities (eight in 2024). Henderson PD counted 23 injury crashes, with fatalities up 150–200% since 2024; several involved students. New rules that took effect May 21 and Oct. 1 include $150–$600 fines, helmets for riders under 18, a 15 mph cap in county parks, bans on reckless tricks, and restrictions on county trails unless posted otherwise. Full details are on Clark County’s website.
