Gov. Mark Gordon has named Thomas Deering as the next Circuit Court Judge for the Third Judicial District, serving Lincoln County, his office announced, SweetwaterNOW reports.
Deering will step into the role left open by the retirement of Judge Greg S. Corpening. His appointment becomes official on January 27, 2026.
Deering is no stranger to Wyoming’s court system. Since 2012, he’s worked as a staff attorney for District Court Judge Richard Lavery in Green River, and since 2013 he’s also served as a district court commissioner and circuit court magistrate.
“It has been an honor to serve the Wyoming Judiciary in Sweetwater County for the past 13 years. I look forward to serving the people of Lincoln County and the State of Wyoming,” Deering said in the release.
Gordon praised the pick, saying Deering brings both strong legal skills and solid character to the bench.
“Thomas has a keen legal intellect, and his very forthright personal skills will serve him well as he sits on the circuit court,” the governor said.
