Wyoming drivers are getting some welcome relief at the pump just in time for the holidays – average gas prices across the Cowboy State have tumbled by more than 11 cents a gallon in the past week, dropping to around $2.45 per gallon according to the latest surveys. That’s a solid dip compared with both last month and this time last year.

The price slide mirrors national trends: across the country, pump prices have been sinking for weeks, hitting some of the lowest seasonal levels in about five years. Analysts say a mix of steady refinery output and softer crude costs has kept downward pressure on fuel – good news for anyone gearing up for holiday road trips or balancing big travel bills alongside gift shopping.

In Wyoming specifically, the scene varies widely from station to station. Some shops are already selling regular unleaded for just over $2.05 a gallon, while pricier locations still fetch more than $3.30 – meaning savvy drivers willing to shop around can save a few extra bucks.

AAA’s statewide data backs up the drop, showing Wyoming’s average around about $2.56 per gallon, significantly lower than prices just weeks ago and well under last year’s numbers.

For many locals, the falling prices are a breath of fresh air after a year where everyday costs – groceries, rent, utilities – have stayed high. Lower fuel bills help stretch budgets a bit further, especially for rural commuters logging long miles and families hitting the road for holiday visits. It’s not a windfall, but it is something most drivers say they’re happily taking.

Of course, prices aren’t uniformly cheap everywhere, and analysts warn that fuel costs can still swing with crude market shifts or refinery hiccups. But for now, Wyoming drivers are enjoying one less sting at the pump as 2025 winds down.
