Monday’s the Deadline to Enter Wyoming’s “Super Tag” Big-Game Raffle

With input from Jackson Hole News&Guide and Wyoming Eagle Tribune.
Heads up, hunters – if you want a shot at a dirt-cheap tag for elk, deer, moose or other big game next season, Monday is your last day to throw your name in the hat.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s annual Super Tag raffle – the one that lures hunters with low-cost tags while raising money for wildlife conservation – closes for entries Monday. The raffle is part of the state’s big-game application cycle and is designed to both help fund conservation work and give lucky applicants a much cheaper route to coveted permits. (You can find details and apply on the Game and Fish website: wgfd.wyo.gov.)
The Super Tag is basically Wyoming’s version of a lottery for hunting tags: you buy a ticket (or enter online), and if you win, you get the right to purchase a big-game tag at a reduced cost compared with the usual application routes. The raffle proceeds go straight into conservation and wildlife management programs – so even if you don’t score a tag, you’re helping fund habitat work, research and other projects that keep game populations healthy.
Game and Fish says the raffle is an important fundraiser and a popular way for residents and nonresidents alike to chase tags they might otherwise never draw. It’s also timed to fit inside the normal big-game application window, so winners can plan for the upcoming seasons without missing other deadlines. (Full application dates and key deadlines are posted on the WGFD site.)
Don’t overthink it: go to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s website and look for the Super Tag page or the big-game applications section. The department handles ticket sales and the raffle online, and that’s where you’ll enter and pay whatever fee applies. If you prefer, the WGFD provides information on other application dates and deadlines for the 2026–27 big-game season as well.
A few tips:
- Get your application in before Monday’s deadline – the system will close, and late entries are usually not accepted.
- Check residency rules and documentation requirements if you’re a nonresident.
- Make sure you also note other tag application deadlines – Super Tag is one avenue, but there are regular draw applications and preference points to consider.
For many Wyoming hunters, especially those chasing top-tier tags like trophy elk or moose, the Super Tag offers a rare shortcut. Winning a Super Tag can mean significantly lower out-of-pocket costs and a guaranteed chance to hunt an area or species that would otherwise require years of drawing preference points. That’s why the raffle draws steady interest every year – and why the WGFD keeps promoting it as both a conservation tool and a service to the hunting community.
Whether you’re playing odds, supporting conservation, or both, don’t wait until Tuesday if you want in. Hit the WGFD website, follow the Super Tag instructions and cross your fingers. If you miss this year, the department runs similar programs and the regular big-game application season will have its own deadlines to mark on your calendar.
