Interstate 80 remained closed in both directions Wednesday evening after multiple crashes involving more than two dozen vehicles near mile marker 18, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The highway is shut down from Exit 6 (Bear River Drive) to Exit 34 (Fort Bridger) as crews respond to two separate incidents. Westbound lanes are expected to reopen in five to six hours. There is no timeline for eastbound lanes, which officials describe as an “active and evolving incident.”

“Please continue to avoid the area as crews work to save lives and clear the road,” the WHP said in a social media post.

The crashes occurred amid hazardous winter weather, and officials urged drivers to slow down and move over for emergency crews. Motorists are advised to delay travel or find alternate routes. Road conditions can be checked through WYO 511 or the WHP Facebook page.
