A 19-year-old driver died Monday after being ejected from his vehicle in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 14A near Lovell, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Kameryn Allphin was driving east on U.S. 14A near milepost 42.6 when his Chevy Impala drifted off the road to the south. He overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise and enter the north right-of-way. The vehicle tripped going up an embankment and began to roll before landing on all four tires, then slammed into a metal power pole on the passenger side. Allphin was ejected.
Road conditions were dry with cloudy, overcast skies. Driver inattention is being investigated as a possible contributing factor. Allphin was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation, and preliminary information may be subject to change, the Highway Patrol advised.
