Kaitlyn Denzler has joined the ACLU of Wyoming as Deputy Executive Director. As deputy executive director, Denzler will oversee chapter operations and lead efforts to ensure the work of the ACLU is well-supported, coordinated and aligned with its strategic plan to further advance civil liberties in Wyoming.

“Kaitlyn’s extensive experience at the intersection of policy, strategy and implementation across international and domestic human rights and civic engagement is an enormous asset to our team. With her onboard, the ACLU’s capacity to create change is stronger than ever and we are better poised to fight back against government attempts to undermine our civil liberties,” said Libby Skarin, executive director of the ACLU of Wyoming.

Prior to the ACLU, Denzler served as a foreign service officer with the United States Agency for International Development where she managed programs advancing labor, women’s and LGBTQI+ rights. She also partnered with civil society leaders to strengthen anti-corruption efforts and safeguard election integrity in complex political environments. Earlier in her career, Denzler was a program officer at Amnesty International USA where she led campaigns and increased member engagement on sexual and reproductive rights.

“Now more than ever, the ACLU’s unwavering commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of all people is vital to the health of our democracy and to the well-being of communities whose rights are most at risk,” Denzler said. “The ACLU plays a unique and essential role in safeguarding civil liberties and helping ensure Wyoming lives up to its promise of freedom and justice for all. It is a privilege to be a part of this work alongside our incredible partners and the growing number of volunteers committed to protecting the rights of their neighbors.”

Denzler grew up primarily in Las Vegas. She holds a master’s degree from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.

About the ACLU of Wyoming
The American Civil Liberties Union of Wyoming is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of civil liberties and civil rights. The ACLU of Wyoming is part of a three-state chapter that also includes North Dakota and South Dakota. The team in Wyoming is supported by staff in those states.

The ACLU believes freedoms of press, speech, assembly, and religion, and the rights to due process, equal protection and privacy, are fundamental to a free people. In addition, the ACLU seeks to advance constitutional protections for groups traditionally denied their rights, including people of color, women, and the LGBTQ communities. The ACLU of Wyoming carries out its work through selective litigation, lobbying at the state and local level, and through public education and awareness of what the Bill of Rights means for the people of Wyoming.
