US and Israel strike Iran’s Natanz nuclear site

The United States and Israel have carried out a new strike on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, according to Tehran’s atomic energy organisation, marking another escalation in a conflict increasingly centred on the country’s nuclear infrastructure.
In a statement reported by Tasnim news agency on Saturday, the organisation said:
“Following the criminal attacks by the United States and the usurping Zionist regime against our country, the … Natanz enrichment complex was targeted this morning.”
Iranian officials said there had been no radiation leak from the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan enrichment facility, one of the country’s key uranium processing sites. According to the report, no off-site contamination was detected.
Details about the strike itself remain limited. The statement did not specify how the attack was carried out or what types of weapons were used. Natanz, located in central Iran, has long been a focal point in disputes over Tehran’s nuclear programme and was also targeted during the 2025 Israel-Iran war.
The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed it had been informed of the attack and said there was no increase in radiation levels outside the site. Its head, Rafael Grossi, reiterated a warning that has become more urgent as the war intensifies, calling for “military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident”.
The strike aligns with one of the stated objectives of the US-Israeli campaign: to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons capability. Over recent weeks, nuclear and military sites have increasingly become central targets.
At the same time, the risks of escalation continue to widen. Russia condemned the latest attack as “a blatant violation of international law,” while Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz signalled that the pace of operations is set to increase.
“This week, the intensity of the strikes to be carried out by the IDF and the US military against the Iranian terror regime and the infrastructure on which it relies will rise significantly,” he said.
