CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper-Natrona County Health Department conducted routine food safety inspections at local establishments over the past week, with several facilities cited for violations ranging from improper food storage to sanitation issues.
JS Chinese topped the list with 10 violations requiring a reinspection. Inspectors noted a food employee failed to wash hands before food preparation, foods in a prep unit were holding at improper temperatures, and the back door was not protected against entry of insects and rodents. The facility was overstocked and lacked proper temperature measuring devices.
Big D #66 also required a reinspection with six violations, including eggs, meat and cheese holding at improper temperatures, a cooler not maintaining 41 degrees or below, and improper methods used to thaw raw chicken.
El Burro Loco LLC received eight violations, though no reinspection was required. The facility had no certified food protection manager on staff, an employee was seen washing gloves rather than hands, food in the dining area exceeded safe temperatures, and the walk-in cooler ceiling was peeling, posing a risk of paint flakes falling into food.
Walmart #1617 on Second Street had six violations including empty hand towel dispensers, a sanitizer dispenser not working, expired test strips, and multiple areas needing cleaning. Metro Coffee Company Centennial Hills had five violations, including no certified food protection manager and employees not washing hands before putting on gloves.
Petro Pub required a reinspection with four violations, including soiled equipment and foods holding at improper temperatures. Sloanes General Store, Wyoming Child Development and Early Head Start, and several other establishments had minor violations.
