Wyoming High School Basketball Week 4 Recap: Performance Highlights of the Top 5 Teams

Week 4 of Wyoming High School basketball in 2025 delivered a nearly full schedule of games as teams resumed action following the New Year break, Wyopreps.com reports.

With four tournaments anchoring much of the week’s play and several conference matchups rounding out the schedule, fans had plenty to watch. The week brought notable upsets and impressive wins across the state. Here’s how the top five ranked boys’ and girls’ teams in the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls fared.

Girls’ Basketball Highlights

4A

  • #1 East (3-0): Dominated Kelly Walsh (59-15), Natrona County (48-31), and Rock Springs (75-16).
  • #2 Sheridan (3-0): Recorded wins against 3A #4 Wheatland (43-33), Riverton (53-23), and Rock Springs (50-23).
  • #3 Central (3-0): Triumphed over Natrona County (66-29), Green River (50-32), and Kelly Walsh (65-37).
  • #4 Campbell County (3-0): Beat Natrona County (58-37), Kelly Walsh (54-30), and edged 3A #4 Wheatland (63-61).
  • #5 Laramie (2-1): Won against Rock Springs (43-35) and Riverton (44-29) but fell to 3A #4 Wheatland (53-44).

3A

  • #1 Douglas (2-1): Lost to #3 Pinedale (57-50) but secured wins against #5 Mountain View (71-35) and Lander (53-23).
  • #2 Cody (1-0): Overpowered Lander (63-34) in their sole game of the week.
  • #3 Pinedale (3-0): Defeated #1 Douglas (57-50), Buffalo (60-48), and Rawlins (82-31).
  • #4 Wheatland (2-2): Experienced mixed results with losses to 4A #2 Sheridan (43-33) and 4A #4 Campbell County (63-61), but secured wins over 4A #5 Laramie (53-44) and 1A #1 Southeast (43-20).
  • #5 Mountain View (2-1): Split their week with a win over Buffalo (52-43), a loss to #1 Douglas (71-35), and a victory against Worland (52-21).

2A and 1A

  • 2A #1 Tongue River (4-0): Unbeaten with wins against Burns, Thermopolis, Pine Bluffs, and Shoshoni.
  • 1A #1 Southeast (0-3): Struggled, facing losses against higher-classification opponents Green River, Cheyenne Central JV, and 3A #4 Wheatland.

Boys’ Basketball Highlights

4A

  • #1 Laramie (3-0): Outpaced Rock Springs (75-62), Wheatland (56-39), and Riverton (73-48).
  • #2 Sheridan (3-0): Secured wins over Wheatland (67-18), Riverton (48-40), and Sheridan (69-59).
  • #3 East (2-1): Dropped a game to Kelly Walsh (53-47) but rebounded with victories against Natrona County (57-41) and Rock Springs (77-70).
  • #4 Evanston: Did not play.
  • #5 Central (1-2): Managed a win against Green River (57-37) but lost to Natrona County (50-27) and Kelly Walsh (50-36).

3A

  • #1 Lovell (1-0): Easily defeated 2A Rocky Mountain (57-23).
  • #2 Cody (1-0): Took down #4 Lander (69-56).
  • #3 Powell (1-0): Bested 2A Rocky Mountain (50-30).
  • T4 Douglas (3-0): Undefeated with wins over Lyman (82-58), Mountain View (69-50), and Pinedale (75-42).
  • T4 Lander (1-3): Faced tough competition, falling to #2 Cody, Worland, and Buffalo but beating Rawlins.

2A and 1A

  • 2A #1 Thermopolis (3-1): Won three games but suffered a loss to Sundance (57-40).
  • 1A #1 Lingle-Ft. Laramie (2-0): Secured victories against Hemingford, NE, and H.E.M.

As Week 5 begins on January 14, teams will look to solidify their standings, and updated rankings are set for release on January 15.
