Wyoming PBS recently released a new episode of its “Our Wyoming” series, showcasing the inspiring journey of Bondurant dog musher Alix Crittenden, Jackson Hall News&Guide reports.

The documentary, which aired on January 8, follows Crittenden as she strives for victory at the prestigious Pedigree Stage Stop dog sled race while overcoming personal challenges.

The film highlights the deep bond between Crittenden and her team at Jackson Hole Iditarod Sled Dog Tours, as well as her resilient fight against brain cancer. Crittenden’s journey takes on added significance as she navigates the aftermath of a seizure that led to the discovery of a tumor in her brain, marking the first anniversary of that pivotal event.

Viewers are given a glimpse into Crittenden’s return to the race scene, where she began training her sled dogs in October, using a four-wheeler before the snow arrived. With the arrival of winter, she transitioned back to her wooden sled, managing both her own health and the needs of her dogs. Crittenden, who recently completed her ninth round of chemotherapy, took part in a 28-mile training run, demonstrating her dedication and perseverance.

“It’s been a hard learning experience, but I think it’s changed my view of a lot of things in a good way, even with running dogs,” Crittenden said in the documentary.

The Pedigree Stage Stop, which begins on January 31 in Jackson’s Town Square, is just two weeks away. The seven-stage race will travel across western Wyoming, with stops in Pinedale, Big Piney, Kemmerer, Lander, and Dubois.

The full documentary is available for streaming on Wyoming PBS’s YouTube channel, website, and the PBS app. Additionally, readers can find a multipart series in the Jackson Hole News & Guide about Crittenden’s comeback and her journey with her team leading up to the Stage Stop.
