High school Nordic skiers in Wyoming are gearing up for a competitive weekend on the trails after a week-long break from the racing schedule.

This week’s events mark the Don and Susan Jacobson Memorial Nordic Ski Race, the only stop outside Oil City for the 2025 season.

The Casper Mountain Trails Center will host two days of cross-country skiing events:

  • Friday, Feb. 7: A 7.75 km freestyle race starting at 1 p.m. with interval starts every 15 seconds. Varsity girls will ski first, followed by varsity boys.
  • Saturday, Feb. 8: A 7.9 km classic race beginning at 10 a.m., following the same interval start format. Varsity boys will ski first, followed by varsity girls.

Schools scheduled to participate include Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, and Sheridan.

There are no alpine skiing events scheduled this week. Downhill skiers will return to competition next week for their second race on Casper Mountain this season.
