Trump Lashes Out at Former Advisor, Downplays Putin Concerns Amid Ukraine War

President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on his former national security advisor, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, and downplayed concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin, amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine, Fox News reports.
The remarks, made on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social on Sunday night, followed McMaster’s criticism of Trump for allegedly “coddling Putin” while pressuring Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
“H.R. MCMASTER IS A WEAK AND TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE LOSER!” Trump wrote in his initial post.
He followed up with another post:
“We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country – So that we don’t end up like Europe!”
McMaster’s criticism stemmed from a meeting between Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Zelensky in the Oval Office. Trump and Vance heavily criticized Zelensky during the tense exchange, prompting McMaster to allege taht they appeared to be “putting more pressure” on the Ukrainian president while seeming to “coddle Putin.”
“It is impossible to understand why President Trump and Vice President Vance seem determined to put more pressure on President Zelensky while they seem to be coddling Putin.”
The tension in the Oval Office arose from Zelensky’s demand for security guarantees from the USA. Following the heated exchange, which was seemingly welcomed by Russian leaders and state media, Zelensky received support from European and other international leaders.
