President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night received strong support from Wyoming’s Republican senators, John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis.

Both lawmakers praised Trump’s message of economic revival, energy independence, and national security, emphasizing his commitment to delivering on campaign promises.

Sen. John Barrasso lauded Trump’s speech, describing it as a reaffirmation of “promises made and promises kept.” Barrasso highlighted several key areas where Trump has already made significant strides:

  • Energy Independence: The senator praised Trump for removing restrictions on American energy production, calling it a major step toward energy dominance. He specifically noted Trump’s decision to end what he referred to as the “Biden electric vehicle mandate,” ensuring a future driven by affordable, reliable energy.
  • Border Security: Barrasso emphasized Trump’s swift action in securing the southern border, pointing to a sharp decline in illegal crossings and the deportation of criminal aliens.

“Our communities are safer,” he stated.

  • Government Efficiency: The senator also praised Trump’s efforts to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in federal spending, citing billions of dollars saved for American taxpayers.
  • Economic Policy: As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Barrasso vowed to work alongside the administration to prevent what he described as the Democrats’ $4 trillion tax hike.

“We need to make sure Wyoming families, workers, and job creators are strong,” he said.

Barrasso expressed optimism about America’s economic future under Trump’s leadership.

Sen. Cynthia Lummis echoed Barrasso’s sentiments, commending Trump for taking decisive action in just over a month in office. She described his leadership as “lightning speed” in reversing policies from the previous administration that she believes burdened Americans.

Lummis underscored several aspects of Trump’s speech:

  • Hope for the Future: She highlighted Trump’s message as one of “optimism,” particularly for Wyoming residents who have faced economic struggles.
  • Law and Order: Lummis credited Trump for working to restore order, transparency, and accountability in the federal government, reversing policies she argued led to record-breaking inflation and overregulation.
  • Energy Policy: The senator pointed to Trump’s rollback of restrictions on oil, gas, and coal, which she said would boost Wyoming’s energy sector and bring back jobs.

Lummis pledged to collaborate with the Trump administration to ensure continued prosperity for Wyoming families.

“Under President Trump, the American dream is attainable again,” she said.

Trump’s address, which reached more than 36 million television viewers, outlined his administration’s priorities, including imposing tariffs on foreign trade partners, tackling inflation, and ensuring national security. His remarks sparked both praise and protest, with some Democratic lawmakers wearing pink as a form of silent opposition.
