Two residents of Cody, Wyoming, Korinne McKay and Wayne Wright, are facing serious drug trafficking charges after being accused of transporting large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine from Aurora, Colorado, into Park County, Cowboy State Daily reports.

The two were arrested after law enforcement discovered 7,000 fentanyl pills and about a pound of meth during a traffic stop outside Meeteetse, Wyoming.

McKay, 35, also known as Korinne Santini, and Wright, 58, each face four felony drug charges, carrying a potential sentence of up to 80 years in prison and fines of up to $100,000. Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, when a judge will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed.

According to an affidavit filed by Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Special Agent Jonathan Shane Reece, agents had been investigating McKay based on information linking her to fentanyl distribution in Park County. Surveillance techniques indicated that McKay and Wright had traveled to Aurora, Colorado, overnight on September 21-22, prompting further investigation.

On September 22, a Park County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Wright’s vehicle, a Ford Focus with Wyoming plates, as it entered Park County. The affidavit states that McKay was seen attempting to hide something under her seat during the stop. Both individuals were detained while a search warrant was obtained.

During the search of the vehicle, agents reportedly found 2,000 suspected fentanyl pills under McKay’s seat, along with dispensary marijuana behind the driver’s seat. In the trunk, investigators discovered an additional 5,000 fentanyl pills, roughly a pound of methamphetamine, $7,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia, including scales and baggies, suggesting the drugs were intended for sale. Field tests confirmed the presence of both fentanyl and methamphetamine.
