The Wyoming State High School Girls Swimming & Diving Championships concluded with outstanding performances in both Class 4A and Class 3A at the Cheyenne East Aquatics Facility, Casper Star-Tribune reports.
Teams from across the state competed fiercely, with Laramie High School clinching the Class 4A title and Lander High School dominating in Class 3A.
In Class 4A, Laramie won the team title with a score of 231.5 points, followed by Green River in second place with 208 points. Cheyenne Central, Jackson, and Gillette rounded out the top five, showcasing strong individual and relay performances. Key moments included Green River’s victory in the 200-yard medley relay with Peyton Murray, Kaylin Uhrig, Tavia Arnell, and Alayna Kelhofer finishing in 1:50.42. In individual events, Maren Tattersall from Jackson won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.38, and Tavia Arnell from Green River claimed victory in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly.
Laramie’s divers also stood out, with Maggie Turpin winning the diving event with a score of 478.60 and Rowyn Birdsley coming in second. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Laramie closed out the event with a win, as MacKenna Schabron, Brooklyn Smith, Addi Graves, and Libbie Roesler finished in 3:44.30.
In Class 3A, Lander High School emerged as the clear winner with a commanding 431 points, followed by Cody with 199 points and a tie for third between Buffalo and Kemmerer with 118 points each. Lander’s swimmers dominated relay events, winning the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Sara Kearns, Lara Robertson, Katy Anderson, and Vayda Havens brought home another victory for Lander with a time of 3:40.98.
Standout individual performances in Class 3A included Vayda Havens of Lander, who won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events, and Katy Anderson, also from Lander, who took first in the 100-yard backstroke. Emily Plaisted contributed to Lander’s success by winning the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke events.
