Track and field athletes from across Wyoming delivered standout performances during competitions held on the weekend of May 2–3, Casper Star-Tribune reports.
Athletes from schools including Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Cheyenne East, Thunder Basin, Cody, Lander, and many others showcased their skills in events ranging from sprints and hurdles to jumps and throws. Several meet records were set, underscoring the high level of competition across both large and small school divisions.
Statewide Meet Highlights
Girls Events
Sprints: Grace Miller of Thunder Basin continued her dominance, winning both the 100m (12.28) and 200m (24.99). In the 400m, Lainey Berryhill from Laramie impressed with a winning time of 55.14 seconds.
Distance: Maggie Madsen (Cheyenne East) set a meet record in the 3200m with a time of 10:48.80, while Malea Adams-Case of Cheyenne Central won the 1600m in 5:14.74.
Hurdles: Addison Alley (Riverton) took the 100m hurdles (14.57), while Douglas’ Jaden Meyer set a meet record in the 300m hurdles (43.28).
Field Events: Lilly Charest (Sheridan) vaulted to 12-03 for the top spot in pole vault. Landon’s Adelyn Anderson swept the throwing events, with a 45-00.5 mark in shot put and a 152-10 throw in discus.
Boys Events
Sprints: Carson Lundberg (Natrona County) broke the meet record in the 100m with a 10.56 finish, while Chance Morris (Sheridan) did the same in the 200m (21.45). Tegan Krause (Cheyenne Central) set a new meet record in the 400m, clocking in at 47.98.
Distance: Race Morrell (Cheyenne Central) led the 1600m in 4:22.21, while Gideon Moore (Laramie) took the 3200m with a 9:40.73.
Hurdles: Garrett Otto (Sheridan) won both the 110m (14.68) and 300m (38.27) hurdles.
Field Events: Landon Walker (Kelly Walsh) jumped 49-07 in triple jump for a meet record and added a long jump title (23-01.5). Gillette’s Raynor Ranum set a record in the shot put (64-04) and added a win in the discus (160-09).
Lovell Invitational Recap
Smaller schools also competed at the Lovell Invitational, where Powell (girls) and Lovell (boys) won team titles.
Girls Events
Vinaya Vanderploeg (Riverside) captured both the 100m (12.98) and 200m (26.69).
Afton Cummins (Tongue River) won the 400m (1:01.11).
Powell’s Kenna Jacobsen claimed victories in both the 800m (2:28.42) and 3200m (12:05.94).
Avery Walker (Lovell) took the triple jump (36-03), and Powell’s Nalani Jordan led the discus (111-05).
Boys Events
Big Horn dominated the sprints, with Cruz Hernandez winning the 200m (22.49) and their 4×100 relay team clocking 42.89.
Bradford Davidson (Burlington) took the 1600m (4:48.78), while Powell’s Korbyn Warren was top in the 3200m (10:35.43).
Matthew Newman (Lovell) won the 110m hurdles in 15.46, and Owen Walker (Lovell) cleared 6-04 in the high jump.
