Inmate Escapes at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, Flees on Light Rail

An inmate escaped custody at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) Sunday morning, triggering a search that led authorities to believe he fled the airport via light rail, Fox News reports.
According to the Port of Seattle Police, the incident began around 11 a.m. when a contracted agent was attempting to transport the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Sedrick T. Stevenson, near the ticket counter. Stevenson, who was wanted on warrants out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, allegedly overpowered the agent and fled toward the light rail station.
Agents pursued Stevenson but were unable to apprehend him. Port of Seattle Police confirmed through surveillance footage that the suspect boarded a northbound light rail train.
Later, Sound Transit security spotted Stevenson exiting the light rail station at Capitol Hill.
Stevenson is now wanted for escape in the second degree, according to authorities.
Following the escape, police conducted a thorough search of baggage claim, the platform, and other areas within the airport to ensure the area was secure.
“We searched baggage claim, the platform and areas within the airport to clear the area,” a Port of Seattle Police spokesperson stated.
Authorities confirmed that the incident did not impact travel operations at Sea-Tac Airport, and flights continued without disruption.
