Luxury Lamborghini Yacht Sinks Off Miami Beach, 32 Passengers Rescued

Thirty-two passengers were safely rescued Saturday evening after a $4 million luxury yacht, a 63-foot Tecnomar for Lamborghini, began taking on water and sinking near Flagler Monument Island in Biscayne Bay off the coast of Miami Beach, Fox News reports.
Multiple agencies, including the US Coast Guard, responded to the distress call and assisted in the rescue operation. All 32 individuals on board were unharmed and assessed by the Miami Beach Fire Department.
“Commercial salvage is attempting to recover the vessel and [it] isn’t a hazard to navigation,” USCG Southeast stated in a social media post, also expressing gratitude to “the Good Samaritan boat operators in the vicinity who also rendered assistance.”
The incident raises questions about the yacht’s passenger capacity, as the Tecnomar for Lamborghini is designed to accommodate a maximum of 16 people, according to Lamborghini Miami’s website. The vessel was carrying twice its designated capacity at the time of the incident.
The Tecnomar for Lamborghini, a collaboration between Lamborghini and The Italian Sea Group, weighs 24 tons and boasts a top speed of 63 knots (approximately 72 miles per hour).
The incident occurred during the Formula One Miami Grand Prix weekend, which drew over 275,000 attendees in 2024, according to the Formula One website. While the event attracts a large influx of visitors to the area, there is no indication that it was directly related to the yacht sinking.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is conducting an investigation into the incident, a spokesperson for the US Coast Guard says.
