Third Suspect Arrested in New Orleans Jailbreak Investigation

Louisiana State Police have arrested a third alleged accomplice in connection with the escape of ten inmates from the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility, Fox News reports.
Connie Weeden, 59, was taken into custody after investigators uncovered evidence linking her to one of the escapees, Jermaine Donald, who remains at large.
According to authorities, Weeden communicated with Donald via phone both before and after the escape. She also allegedly transferred cash to him through a mobile payment app. Weeden has been charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
“Those who choose to assist or conceal these individuals are violating the law and will be held accountable,” the Louisiana State Police said in a statement. “Harboring fugitives threatens the safety of our communities and will not be tolerated.”
Under Louisiana law, a conviction for accessory after the fact can carry up to a $500 fine and a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Weeden is the third person charged in connection with the jailbreak. Two others — Cortnie Harris and Corvanntay Baptiste — were previously arrested for allegedly providing support and transportation to escapees.
The large-scale escape has triggered a multi-agency manhunt involving local, state, and federal law enforcement. Authorities say ten inmates escaped from the facility, several of whom are still at large and considered armed and dangerous.
