Wyoming’s American Legion baseball teams have entered Week 12 of the 2025 season, with summer tournaments taking center stage, WyoPreps reports.
Teams from across the state are participating in multi-day events throughout Wyoming and neighboring states, with at least one tournament game scheduled every day from June 16 through June 22.
The only tournament being held within Wyoming’s borders this week is the Tri-State Border War Tournament, co-hosted by the Cheyenne Hawks and Cheyenne Eagles, taking place Thursday through Sunday in the Capital City. The event brings in teams from Colorado and Nebraska, with games spread across Powers Field and Pioneer Park.
A limited number of conference doubleheaders are also scheduled this week, with most set for Tuesday, June 17. Matchups include:
Riverton Raiders at Evanston Outlaws
Cheyenne Eagles at Gillette Rustlers
Green River Knights at Powell Pioneers
Lovell Mustangs at Cody Cubs
Torrington Tigers at Wheatland Lobos
Sunday closes the week with conference series between Douglas Cats and Buffalo Bulls, and Rock Springs Stallions and Evanston Outlaws.
Many Wyoming teams are hitting the road for regional competition in neighboring states, including:
Battle for Omaha (NE) – Featuring the Douglas Cats
Creighton Prep CWS Classic (NE) – Hosting the Cheyenne Sixers, Sheridan Troopers, and Gillette Riders
Buffalo Wild Wings Tournament (MT) – Involving the Gillette Rustlers, Sheridan Jets, Powell Pioneers, Lovell Mustangs, and Green River Knights
Clair Conley Tournament (NE) – Showcasing the Casper Drillers and Torrington Tigers
Harold Gjerde Memorial Tournament (MT) – With games for the Cody Cubs
Missoula Memorial Tournament (MT) – Featuring the Casper Oilers
Wyoming teams face strong out-of-state competition from Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and even Alberta, Canada, providing valuable experience and exposure.
The week began with mixed outcomes for Wyoming teams. On Monday, the Douglas Cats dropped both of their opening games at the Battle for Omaha tournament, falling to Nevada Sparks (16–0) and the Twin Falls Cowboys (7–1). Meeks drove in the lone run for the Cats with an RBI single.
As the week progresses, teams will be battling in bracket rounds and elimination games, culminating with championship matchups on Sunday.
