Four motorcyclists lost their lives in two separate crashes last week in Campbell County, according to reports from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), KGAB AM 650 reports.

Both incidents occurred within a three-day span and involved tragic circumstances on Wyoming roadways.

The first crash occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, on Wyoming Highway 450 near Wright. According to the WHP fatality summary, two motorcyclists—68-year-old Steve Layman and 74-year-old Ricky Lynch, both Wyoming residents—were traveling eastbound in tandem when a westbound Chevrolet Silverado flatbed pickup crossed the centerline and struck them head-on.

Both Layman and Lynch were wearing helmets but succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The report cites possible driver inattention or fatigue/asleep at the wheel as contributing factors in the crash.

The second fatal incident occurred around 8:02 p.m. on Friday, June 20, on US Highway 14/16 near Gillette. According to investigators, a motorcycle being pursued at high speed by law enforcement failed to navigate a left-hand turn, exited the roadway, went airborne, and crashed in a roadside ditch.

The crash claimed the lives of the motorcycle driver, 43-year-old Jonathon Townsend of Wyoming, and his passenger, 44-year-old Amber Cisneros of Nevada. Townsend was wearing a helmet, while Cisneros was not. Speed is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the crash.

With these incidents, the number of motorcyclist fatalities on Wyoming highways has risen to six in 2025, highlighting ongoing concerns over road safety for riders in the state.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol continues to investigate both crashes.
