Noble Plains Uranium Corp. isn’t wasting any time with its newest asset. Just weeks after acquiring the Duck Creek Project in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin, the company has already filed for permits to launch a 198-hole drill program, Resource World Magazine reports.
The move signals Noble Plains’ aggressive strategy to quickly advance high-potential projects in America’s most uranium-friendly districts. Duck Creek sits in the middle of the Powder River Basin, a powerhouse uranium hub already home to producers like Cameco, Uranium Energy Corp., and GTI Energy.
“Submitting permits this promptly after acquisition is a clear reflection of our strategy at Noble Plains: acquire, advance, and build pounds in the ground efficiently,” said company president Drew Zimmerman. “Duck Creek is becoming an integral part of our vision of becoming a leading growth story in US uranium.”
Most of the upcoming drill holes—174 out of 198—are aimed at expanding the mineralized footprint laid out in a recent NI 43-101 Technical Report. Only 24 holes will be used to verify more than 1,300 historic drill intercepts, a cost-efficient way of building on existing data.
The initial campaign will zero in on shallow uranium mineralization within the Wasatch Formation, while deeper potential in the Fort Union Formation is slated for future work.
The recently filed NI 43-101 Technical Report outlined an Exploration Target ranging from 2.37 million tons at 0.03% U₃O₈ to 5.45 million tons at 0.05% U₃O₈. Noble Plains cautions this is still conceptual—there isn’t yet enough drilling to declare a resource—but the upside is significant.
“With a small number of confirmation holes, we can validate the historic drilling, while the bulk of the program is strategically designed to expand the mineralized footprint,” said CEO Paul Cowley. “The opportunity is not just to confirm what’s already outlined, but to potentially move beyond it toward something much larger.”
Drilling at Duck Creek will begin once permits are in hand, with results feeding into the company’s goal of delivering its first NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate by mid-2025.
