Wyoming is making waves again in the crypto world — this time with the official launch of its very own state-issued stable token, the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT).
So what’s the big deal?
Unlike the wild world of private stablecoins, Wyoming’s token is backed directly by the state, using good old-fashioned assets like US dollars and short-term Treasuries. That means it’s designed to hold its value steady — no dramatic crashes, no shady backing. Just blockchain tech with a government guarantee.
How It Works:
- Backed by Wyoming: every token is supported by state-held assets.
- Runs on multiple blockchains: including Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.
- Regulated: overseen by the Wyoming Stable Token Commission, created under the 2023 Stable Token Act.
The idea is simple: give people and businesses a safe, fast way to transact on blockchain — whether that’s everyday purchases or cross-border payments.
Wyoming is now the only state in the nation with an official stable token. That puts FRNT in position to be a model for how governments modernize payments and settlements. If it works here, don’t be surprised if other states — or even Washington — start paying attention.
Governor Mark Gordon, who also chairs the Stable Token Commission, called the launch another milestone in the state’s blockchain journey.
“For years, Wyoming has been the leading state on blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset regulation, passing over 45 pieces of legislation since 2016,” Gordon said. “The mainnet launch of the Frontier Stable Token will empower our citizens and businesses with a modern, efficient, and secure means of transacting in the digital age.”
Wyoming has long branded itself as the “crypto cowboy” of the US, pioneering laws around blockchain banks and digital assets. With FRNT now live, the state has moved from being crypto-friendly to actually issuing digital money of its own.
It’s bold, it’s experimental, and it just might set the standard for how governments plug into the blockchain future.
