CASPER, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management recently announced that it is seeking public comments on a proposed noncompetitive, direct sale at fair market value of approximately 800 public acres across nine isolated parcels near Glenrock in Converse County.

A release from the BLM states that the parcels are surrounded by private property with no public access and were deemed suitable for disposal, not being needed for any other purpose in the Casper Resource Management Plan. The sale would help resolve fragmented land jurisdiction patterns in the area that make management uneconomical with little to no public benefit.

Only the surface acres are being considered for proposed sale; the federal government will maintain rights to the subsurface mineral estate. A notice will publish in Monday’s Federal Register to begin a 45-day public comment period, which will end on May 28, 2026. Additional information is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option. Written comments may also be emailed or delivered to the BLM Casper Field Office.
