Fire risk high Wednesday as warm temps, 60 mph gusts whip Casper area

CASPER, Wyo. — Warm, dry and windy conditions are bringing a red flag fire warning to Natrona County on Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Casper could expect to see gusts reaching 60 mph at times in wind-prone areas. Winds overall are expected to come from the southwest at 25–40 mph. A high in the low to mid-70s is likely.

Gusty winds will continue overnight as temperatures settle in the upper 30s. Thursday will see chances of showers developing after noon, with possible thunderstorms later in the day. Winds will continue, with gusts around 50 mph accompanying a high temperature of 58 degrees. Overnight Thursday could see rain showers turning to snow by midnight. Some thunder is possible, along with a low temperature of 28 degrees.

Friday could see snow early before gradually easing after noon. A high of 49 degrees with wind gusts of up to 23 mph is likely. Snow is possible at times overnight, with a low around 25 degrees.
