The University of Wyoming track and field program will return to action this weekend, traveling to Stanford, California, to compete in the prestigious Stanford Invitational, set to begin on Friday, April 4, at Cobb Track and Angell Field, News Letter Journal reports.

The event is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. MT, with the final race of the day, the men’s 10,000 meters (section two), set to start at 11:53 p.m. MT.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete in six distance events at the meet, following the cancellation of the Jerry Quiller Classic due to weather concerns in Colorado. The meet at Stanford will feature 92 colleges and universities from across the country.

As the outdoor track and field season begins, athletes will shift from indoor-specific events like the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdles to outdoor staples such as the 100 meters, 400-meter hurdles, and hammer throw. The Stanford Invite will provide an opportunity for Wyoming athletes to showcase their skills in events unique to the outdoor season, including the 1500 meters, 3000-meter steeplechase, 10,000 meters, and 4×100 meter relay.
