Two people suspected in a series of burglaries around Lander early Tuesday morning are also facing attempted murder charges tied to a stabbing during a violent overnight crime spree. The Lander Police Department isn’t releasing much information yet, citing the ongoing investigation.

Lorenzo Hopper, 18, and Amanda Phillips, 21, were arrested in the early morning hours Tuesday after what the department describes as a rapid series of calls for service across the city. Both were taken into custody without incident.

Investigators say they are believed to be responsible for multiple nighttime burglaries targeting local businesses. During the investigation, police also say evidence connects the suspects to an attempted murder after an employee at a local business was stabbed during an altercation earlier the same night.

Both suspects are being held at the Fremont County Detention Center on charges that include attempted murder and multiple counts of burglary. Additional charges are still pending. Hopper and Phillips are scheduled to make their initial appearances in Fremont County Circuit Court at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The investigation revealed that the suspects are believed to be responsible for multiple commercial burglaries that occurred in the city of Lander during the nighttime hours on 4/21/26,” says a short Lander Police Department report about the arrests. “During the course of this investigation, evidence was also developed linking the suspects to an attempted murder stemming from an incident that occurred the same night, in which an employee of a local business was stabbed during an altercation.”

Many other details remain unclear. The number of businesses targeted, a timeline of events, evidence linking the suspects to the crimes, and the condition of the victim have not been released. When asked for clarification, the lead investigator declined to answer, saying the investigation remains active. The affidavits of probable cause have not yet been filed with the circuit court.

Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to the community and are asking anyone with information to contact the Lander Police Department at 307-332-3401. This is a developing story.
