The White House pushed back on Sunday following a controversial social media post by ABC News correspondent Terry Moran, in which he accused President Donald Trump and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller of being driven by hatred. The post, which was later deleted, drew swift condemnation from both the administration and ABC News.

“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater,” Moran wrote. “You can see this just by looking at him — his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

He added:

“Trump is a world-class hater too. But his hatred is only a means to an end — his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticized the post on X, calling it “unhinged and unacceptable.”

“This is unacceptable rhetoric from someone employed at a major news outlet,” Leavitt said. “Moran is supposed to be a professional journalist. ABC has informed us they’re taking action — we’ll see what that means. But this incident reflects the public’s growing distrust of legacy media.”

Stephen Miller also responded, saying Moran’s remarks exposed the ideological bias of mainstream media figures.

“For years, anchors and reporters like Terry Moran have pretended to be neutral while pushing radical agendas,” Miller posted. “This meltdown just tore off the mask.”

Vice President J.D. Vance also weighed in, saying Moran’s post was “dripping with hatred” and that viewers should remember the remarks when watching ABC’s coverage.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, ABC News distanced itself from Moran’s comments, saying they did not reflect the network’s values.

“ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality,” the spokesperson said. “We do not condone personal attacks. The post violated our standards and Terry Moran has been suspended pending further review.”

Moran previously interviewed President Trump during his first 100 days in office, an exchange that featured some tense moments. During that interview, Trump criticized Moran for asking questions he characterized as unfair, especially relating to immigration and foreign policy.

“I picked you, Terry, because frankly, I’d never heard of you — but that’s okay,” Trump said during the interview. “You’re not being very nice.”

The president also pushed back during questions about his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I don’t trust you,” Trump said. “I don’t trust a lot of people. You’re smiling, happy to do the interview, and then you come with fake questions.”
